Background
He joined Sumitomo Heavy Industries in April 1986 and built his career in finance and accounting. He became head of the Finance and Accounting Group in April 2019 and rose to Executive Officer in April 2020 and Managing Executive Officer in April 2022 while keeping that post. He joined the board in June 2022, and in January 2024 became Director, Senior Managing Executive Officer and CFO, the position he held just before being named president in his 40th year with the company.
Selection
In January 2026 he succeeded Shinji Shimomura as Representative Director, President and CEO. In the fiscal year ended December 2025, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥1,066.8 billion, roughly flat from ¥1,071.1 billion the year before. Operating income fell from ¥55.1 billion to ¥51.5 billion, while net income recovered from ¥7.7 billion to ¥30.9 billion. It was a change in which an executive who had overseen finance took over the task of restoring profitability.
