Background
He joined Tsumura in April 1986. He served as President of TSUMURA USA, INC. from August 2001, became general manager of Public Relations in January 2006, and in April 2007 became a corporate officer and head of the Corporate Communications Office. In June 2011 he rose to Director, Executive Officer and head of the Corporate Communications Office. His career centered on running the U.S. subsidiary and on the departments handling public relations and external communication.

During his tenure the company brought in China's Ping An Insurance Group as a shareholder; among the major shareholders for the fiscal year ended March 2026, Ping An Life Insurance held 10.20%, ranking second behind the top holder, The Master Trust Bank of Japan, at 15.65%. Consolidated revenue grew from ¥95.4 billion in the year before he took office to ¥181.1 billion in FY ended March 2025 and ¥192.6 billion in FY ended March 2026, and ordinary income rose from ¥21.8 billion to ¥40.0 billion. In June 2019 the company moved to a structure with him as Representative Director, President and CEO.
