Background
Born in 1965, he joined Nomura Securities in April 1988, became an Executive Officer in April 2011, Managing Executive Officer in April 2014, and Executive Officer and Senior Managing Executive Officer in April 2017. From April 2018 he oversaw corporate functions as an Executive Officer of Nomura Holdings, and in April 2019 became Representative Director and Executive Vice President of Nomura Securities. A securities man who had come through administrative functions, he moved to the real estate business in April 2022.
Selection
In April 2022 he became a Director of Nomura Real Estate Development and an Advisor to Nomura Real Estate Holdings, rising to Director and Executive Vice President in June that year and to Representative Director, President and Group CEO in April 2023. His predecessor Eiji Kutsukake became Chairman of the Board. Kutsukake had likewise joined as an Advisor in April 2014 and become President in June of the following year, so the pattern of installing a transferee as President a little over a year after arrival was repeated. Nomura Holdings holds 37.08% as the major shareholder.
Initiatives
In April 2024 the company acquired all shares of UDS Ltd., which handles real estate planning, design and construction and the operation of hotels and other facilities, making it and three other companies wholly owned subsidiaries. Net sales, ¥654.7 billion in the FY ended March 2023 before he took office, rose to ¥757.6 billion in the FY ended March 2025, and operating income from ¥99.6 billion to ¥119.0 billion.
