Background
Born in 1921, he was from Hyogo Prefecture. He graduated from the economics faculty of Kobe University of Commerce in March 1944 and joined the company in July 1946, the year after its incorporation. He became a Director in January 1949, Managing Director in February 1960 and Senior Managing Director in December 1962, and served as Tokyo branch manager in August 1968. In contrast to the founder, a trained architect, he was a career employee who came from economics and worked on the administration and sales side.
Selection
In July 1969 he succeeded founder Takehiko Hasegawa as Representative Director and President. Hasegawa moved to Chairman while retaining representative authority. The promotion came in his 23rd year with the company, and in the 1967 and 1968 officer listings he was Executive Vice President, second to the President. He had served as Tokyo branch manager the August before, and the change appears to have come as the company, founded in the Kansai region, was expanding its business in Tokyo.
Initiatives
Six months after taking office, in February 1970, he established Haseko Real Estate and also served as its director. The company moved its headquarters in December 1970 and its registered head office in December 1974, and established Haseko Community for condominium management in September 1978 and Haseko Urbest for sales in June 1983. He broadened a construction company that merely took on building contracts into a group handling condominium development, sales and management in-house. He is still listed as President in the 1980 officer listing, so his tenure exceeded ten years.
