Background
He joined Sankyu in April 1973. He became a Director in June 1981, Managing Director in June 1984 and Representative Director and Executive Vice President in June 1985, joining the board eight years after joining and gaining representative authority after twelve. It was 13 years from joining to becoming Representative Director and President in March 1986. Since stepping down as President in April 2016 he has remained on the board as Representative Director, Chairman and CEO, and from April 2025 as Chairman and Chair of the Board.
Selection
In March 1986 he was promoted from Representative Director and Executive Vice President to President, nine months after becoming Executive Vice President and one year and nine months after becoming Managing Director. He went on to serve as President for 30 years, stepping down to Representative Director, Chairman and CEO in April 2016.
Initiatives
In 1990 the company merged with Okazaki Kogyo. In 1998 it moved its head office to Kachidoki in Tokyo. Non-consolidated revenue was flat, from ¥364.1 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2006 to ¥373.2 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2011, while on a consolidated basis revenue rose from ¥396.0 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2012 to ¥489.4 billion in the fiscal year ended March 2016, his last year. Consolidated ordinary profit over the same period went from ¥18.3 billion to ¥20.7 billion.
