Background
He joined Victor Company of Japan in April 1980. He became a Director in June 2006, serving as President of the European company and concurrently President of JVC Europe Limited. From April 2007 he also headed a European logistics company. In April 2008 he moved to running the business at head office as head of the display business and display category, and in June that year became Managing Director in charge of the ILA and display businesses.

In October 2008 he became President of Victor Company of Japan. In September that year the company delisted from the Tokyo and Osaka stock exchanges, and in October it established the holding company JVC Kenwood Holdings jointly with Kenwood through a share transfer. In the fiscal year ended March 2008 it had posted a net loss of ¥47.5 billion on consolidated net sales of ¥658.4 billion. He became President two years and four months after joining the board, and Haruo Kawahara, Representative Director and Chairman of Kenwood, joined the same board as Representative Director that month. The appointment appears to have handed him the practical work of integration from his predecessor Kunihiko Sato.
Initiatives
Before he took office, in March 2008, the company had transferred its motor business to a new company set up by Japan Industrial Partners and its circuit business to Meiko. In October 2008, when he took office, it made J&K Technologies a subsidiary to take over the car electronics business. In the fiscal year ended March 2009, his first year, consolidated net sales were ¥462.0 billion, down nearly 30% from ¥658.4 billion the previous year, and the company posted a net loss of ¥24.3 billion. In June 2009 he also became a director of JVC Kenwood Holdings.
