Background

He joined Hitachi Construction Machinery in April 1991 and took charge of overseas markets as head of the Russia and CIS Business Division in April 2017. He advanced to Executive Officer and head of the Sales Group in April 2018, Vice President and Executive Officer heading the Corporate Strategy Group in April 2021, and Executive Vice President and Executive Officer in April 2022. In April 2023, 32 years after joining, he became Representative Executive Officer, President and Executive Officer. His career ran through overseas sales and company-wide strategy, and he spent the two years before taking office in the head office strategy function.

Education: Tokyo Institute of Technology, Graduate School, Mechanical Physics (1991)

Selection

In April 2023 he succeeded Kotaro Hirano as Representative Executive Officer, President and Executive Officer, and his predecessor became Representative Executive Officer and Chairman. In the fiscal year ended March 2023, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥1,264.9 billion and operating income ¥135.7 billion, above the previous year's ¥1,024.9 billion and ¥106.6 billion. The change came right after Hitachi sold 26% of its shares in 2022 and the top shareholder position passed to a consortium of ITOCHU and Japan Industrial Partners. With the controlling shareholder replaced, the company appears to have put the former head of corporate strategy in charge of execution.

Initiatives

In his first year, the fiscal year ended March 2024, consolidated net sales were ¥1,405.9 billion and operating income ¥162.7 billion, above the previous year's ¥1,264.9 billion and ¥135.7 billion. In FY ended March 2026 they were ¥1,405.5 billion and ¥130.1 billion, with sales flat and profit down. In November 2025 the company announced a plan to change its name to LANDCROS Corporation effective April 1, 2027. In April 2026 it presented "LANDCROS 2028," a mid-term plan with ¥500 billion of growth investment, targeting a place among the industry's top three by 2030.
