Background
He joined Mitsui & Co. in April 1987 and advanced to Executive Officer and General Manager of the Business Supervisory Department in April 2017, Managing Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the Europe, Middle East and Africa Business Unit in April 2020, and Senior Executive Managing Officer and General Manager for Europe in April 2022. He moved to MODEC in June 2023, welcomed as Director and Executive Vice President. He is an outsider who spent 36 years at the trading house.

In March 2024 he succeeded Takeshi Kanamori as president, nine months after becoming Director and Executive Vice President of MODEC. In the fiscal year ended December 2023, the year before he took office, consolidated net sales were ¥507.0 billion, operating income ¥27.4 billion and net income ¥13.7 billion, up from ¥363.6 billion, ¥10.0 billion and ¥5.0 billion the year before. Following his predecessor, another Mitsui & Co. alumnus became president.

In his first year, the fiscal year ended December 2024, consolidated net sales were ¥662.1 billion, operating income ¥51.1 billion and net income ¥34.9 billion; in his second, FY ended December 2025, they were ¥717.1 billion, ¥68.5 billion and ¥56.5 billion, two consecutive years of higher sales and profits. Sales rose 41% in two years from ¥507.0 billion in the year before he took office. At the end of FY ended December 2025, the top two shareholders were Mitsui O.S.K. Lines at 15.00% and Mitsui & Co. at 14.86%.
