          "text": "1969年11月、西川政一氏が会長へ就任した後を継いだ。西川氏は日商と岩井産業の合併が動き出した1968年秋に脳血栓で倒れ、約半年入院していた。発足から1年の日商岩井は二つの商社の商権と人の統合を終えておらず、辻良雄氏は日商側の専務として合併の実務にあたっていた。統合の仕上げを、合併を決めた当人ではなく実務を担った側へ渡す交代だったとみられる。",

          "text": "在任中の1972年に半期の取扱高が1兆円を超え、資本金は154億円になった。合併で狙った規模は数字に現れたが、六大商社の平均粗利益率は1971年度の2.32%を頂に下がり続けた。1976年にロッキード事件が発覚し、航空機を扱う商社への視線が厳しくなるなかで、1977年6月に植田三男氏へ社長を渡して会長へ就任した。ボーイングの日本総代理店の商権は手放さなかった。",
