          "text": "1937年8月28日、豊田自動織機製作所の自動車部が資本金1,200万円のトヨタ自動車工業として分離独立し、社長には豊田利三郎氏が、副社長には豊田喜一郎氏が就任した。有価証券報告書の沿革も1937年8月を分離独立（会社創立）と記し、資本金を12,000千円と記録している。織機の一部門にとどめれば本体の信用まで巻き込みかねない自動車の設備投資と借入を、独立法人へ切り分けて負わせる選択であった。1938年3月時点の株主は豊田自動織機製作所が75.17%を占め、豊田利三郎氏個人の持分は4.17%であった。織機の社長が新会社の社長を兼ねる体制で、資本と経営の両面を織機側につないだ。"

          "text": "1939年12月19日、豊田利三郎氏はトヨタの社長として三社提携の契約書に署名した。トヨタ30%、日産自動車30%、フォード40%の出資で、国内に合弁会社を設けるという取り決めである。当時、自動車事業の実務は副社長の豊田喜一郎氏が受け持ち、豊田利三郎氏は織機と自動車の両方を抱える豊田グループの経営全体を見ていた。豊田英二氏の記述では、乗用車への進出に誰よりも強く反対したのが豊田利三郎氏だったが、織機で得た資金を自動車に振り向ける判断も、その了承があって成り立っていた。1941年1月28日、臨時株主総会に続く取締役会で、取締役副社長だった豊田喜一郎氏が取締役社長へ上がり、豊田利三郎氏は取締役会長に就任した。"
