      "1954年の汽車製造は、東京製作所約1,123名・大阪製作所約1,690名の2拠点で合計約2,800名（推定）の規模だった。1969年9月末時点では東京製作所（宇都宮工場を含む）2,027名・大阪製作所2,036名・滋賀製作所357名の3拠点体制となり、合計4,420名まで拡張した。15年で約1.5倍の人員増となる。",
      "会社年鑑1972年版の半期末データでは、1966年9月末4,186名・1967年3月末4,142名・1968年3月末4,219名・1969年3月末4,472名・1970年3月末4,651名と緩やかな拡張が続いた。しかし1970年4月の粉飾発覚後、合併準備期に入った1971年3月末には3,491名へと急減した。前期比1,168名減（25%削減）の大規模リストラであり、合併直前の人員整理の規模が見える。",
