            "text": "祖父の牛尾梅吉氏は、定額料金制の中国合同電力へ定額電球を納めるために姫路電球を興し、1932年に日本電球へ改称して国内の電球メーカーで5指に入った。父の牛尾健治氏は戦後の公職追放で経営を退いたのち、残った衛星会社をまとめて牛尾工業を設立した。牛尾治朗氏は東京銀行に入行してカリフォルニア大学へ留学したが、父の急逝で帰国して牛尾工業に入り、1959年から1964年まで電機事業部の責任者を務めた。1969年9月期の大株主は牛尾治朗氏が筆頭で、2位はウシオ工業だった。"

            "text": "1964年3月、ウシオ工業の電球部門が分離独立し、資本金1,250万円でウシオ電機が発足した。牛尾治朗氏は設立と同時に代表取締役社長へ就任した。分離前の5年間に電機事業部を率いた責任者が、そのまま新会社の社長になった。分離までは一般照明用電球の製造販売が中心だったが、価格競争の激しい家庭用電球を見限り、設立を機にクセノンランプとハロゲンランプの製造を本格化した。発足時の社員の平均年齢は23歳で、独立は不況下に重なった。"

            "text": "映写機用クセノンランプと複写機用ハロゲンランプで伸ばし、1970年5月に東京証券取引所市場第2部へ上場した。1974年9月期に売上高62億3,900万円へ達した直後、円高と原材料費の高騰で翌期の大減益を見込んだ。耐えられる円レートを基準に商品を選び直し、ハロゲンランプを3,000種から2,000種へ、クセノンランプを500種から300種へ絞り、全社の商品の3分の1を捨てた。社員の3分の1を新商品の事業化へ移し、1975年2月にソーラシミュレーターを出した。"
