"1923年1月、藤倉電線は深川の本社事務所を竣工させ、本社と工場の移転を終えた。9月1日の関東大震災の時点で、深川工場は建物がすべて完成し、機械設備の移転も8割方済んでいた。地震による直接の被害は煙突2本の折損などにとどまり、人的被害も無かった。ところが午後6時ごろ洲崎弁天町で起きた火災が風向きの変化で工場へ広がった。事務所・研究所・溶銅工場・ゴム工場など約7500坪の建物は午前0時前に焼け落ち、焼け残りはケーブル工場と材料倉庫の一部、格納庫のみ。一方、千駄谷工場は煉瓦塀の一部が倒れた程度で、深川へ移さずに残した機械設備も無事だった。移転を終えた直後だったため、焼失は新設備のほぼ全体に及び、手元に残った生産能力は千駄谷の旧設備に限られたとみられる。\n\n震災後、社長の松本留吉氏は千駄谷に残った設備を最大限に使い、深川の工員をいったん全員解雇し、職員の大部分を休職とする方針を示した。9月18日には常務の岡田顕三氏が千駄谷工場主任に任命された。復興の資金は、第一次世界大戦後に海外から取り消されて倉庫に保管していた電灯線を、震災復興向けに現金で売却した代金が支えた。この間、関西に工場を持つ住友は9月6日から逓信省・鉄道省・東京市電・東京電燈と受注交渉を始め、全国のケーブル需要をほぼ一手に受注した。深川のケーブル工場は11月に稼働し、1924年3月の本社事務所竣工で復旧を終えた。藤倉電線のケーブル工場が止まっていた9月から11月までに、住友は関東の大口需要家との取引を押さえた。官需の大口を扱うケーブル工場の再建を最優先にした背景には、この住友の関東進出への危機感があったと考えられる。\n\n1932年、山口県電気局が44キロボルトの電力ケーブルの購入を公示し、藤倉電線・古河・住友の3社が受注を争った。3社は種類の異なるケーブルを持ち込み、藤倉電線はSLケーブル、古河はHケーブル、住友はOFケーブルを提案した。長期の交渉の末、山口県電気局が採用したのは藤倉電線のSLケーブルである。社史は採用の理由として、44キロボルト程度では高価なOFケーブルは不要で、Hケーブルには不安が残った点を挙げる。SLケーブルは1933年までに宇部第二発電所と変電所の間に布設され、この納入が宇部炭坑との長い取引の始まりとなった。藤倉電線はSL型電纜やOFケーブルなどの高級品を相次いで製造品目に加えた。財閥を背景に持つ2社との競争では、需要家の電圧に見合う品種を選ぶ提案力が競争の焦点になったと考えられる。", "藤倉電線は1933年に同軸ケーブルの開発に着手した。欧米の電線メーカーは1931年から1932年にかけて開発を競い、国内にはまだ実用に耐える構造が無かった。開発を担当したのは、製造部長の木村介次氏の指示を受けた専門の異なる技術者たちである。電力ケーブル担当の牧実氏は、ラセン状の金属支持体の中心に導体を糸で保持する構造を考案した。新構造に合う製造機は、工作課の安岡一十四氏が数か月で完成させた。製品は藤倉式高周波同軸ケーブルと名付けられ、1935年7月に導体、1937年12月に製造機の特許を得た。のちに米・英・仏・独・伊・オランダ・オーストラリアの7か国でも特許を取得し、藤倉型同軸ケーブルは藤倉電線の技術陣の評価を高めた。\n\n1938年3月、社長の松本留吉氏が71歳で死去し、長男の松本新太氏が2代社長に就任した。松本留吉氏は1901年に藤倉電線護謨合名会社の代表社員となって以来、38年にわたり会社を率いた。松本新太氏は京都帝国大学理学部物理学科の出身で、就任時は46歳。松本新太氏は常務の岡田顕三氏を相談相手とし、父の手堅い経営方針を引き継いだ。同年4月には松本留吉氏が準備を終えていた藤倉鉱業を自ら社長として発足させ、9月には資材の自給を目指す藤倉化学工業を藤倉工業と共同で設立した。1937年の日華事変以降、銅使用制限規則などが公布され、原料銅は従来の実績に応じた配給制に移った。統制で規格と需要家が固定されるなか、資材を系列会社で賄う体制づくりは、自社技術で差を保つための手立てだったと思われる。\n\n1944年4月、藤倉電線は軍部の仲介で静岡県富士郡富士根村の王子製紙富士第二工場を借り受け、深川工場の一部を疎開させた。ゴム線・巻線・航空機用電線の製造機械を移し、深川の従業員の一部が転任した。1945年3月9日夜の空襲で深川工場は焼け、残業者や社宅の家族などから百数十名の犠牲者が出た。戦災直後に生産の続行を決め、深川の焼け残りの機械を運んで生産の主力を富士工場へ移した。終戦後の9月には生産の再開を決め、通信線の製造を優先する方針を定めた。1946年2月に深川、3月に富士で、第二製造課長の木野二郎氏らを中心に工場の再建と生活の安定を掲げた従業員組合が結成された。",
